Shadows in the Body
Jesmond Therapy Centre, Jesmond Newcastle upon Tyne
Facilitated by Paul Sibson

The poet Robert Bly writes of ‘the long bag we drag behind us’, the bag being a metaphor for unconscious shadow aspects of ourselves, ‘stored and held in the darkness of our bodies’. And yet, our body is the medium through which we experience ourselves, other people and the wider environment around us—how we attach to our lives. Working within a traditional model of attachment theory, this workshop will be on the use of somatic practices to enhance the building of the therapeutic relationship and its subsequent effectiveness as a container in which our shadows can safely emerge.

An Introduction to Memory Reconsolidation and Coherence Therapy
Jesmond Therapy Centre, Jesmond Newcastle upon Tyne
Facilitated by Paul Sibson

The mind-brain-body system's built-in rules for change have now been identified and proven in neuroscience. Functioning from an entirely non-pathologizing perspective—The Emotional Coherence Framework—Coherence Therapy is the only to-date mode of psychotherapy built specifically in accordance with these rules for change. Utilizing the mind-brain-body system's deep coherence as a guiding compass, Coherence Therapy first identifies the root causes of symptom production—implicit memories held unconsciously; integrates them into sustained conscious awareness; then subjects them to the crucial conditions identified by neuroscience for their permanent erasure.

Wild Therapy training course 2018
Unstone Grange, Unstone Derbyshire
Facilitated by Stephen Tame & Jayne Johnson

An exploration and celebration of therapy’s wildness: its capacity to transcend the limitations we place on our creativity and connectedness. Working outdoors in comparatively undomesticated settings encourages us to bring the other-than-human and more-than-human – animals, birds, plants, trees, hills, rivers, winds, dreams, ghosts, spirits – into the therapeutic process. Spending time ‘in nature’, as we say, can help us appreciate that we are ever anywhere else, always inhabiting and encountering our own nature. This is a one year course with Jayne Johnson and Stephen Tame, consisting of three residential’s in Derbyshire and Lancashire and one weekend in Bristol.

Embodied-Relational Therapy training course 2019
Unstone Grange, Unstone Derbyshire
Facilitated by Jayne Johnson, Stephen Tame plus other trainers from the ERT Training Team

ERT focuses on the trainee’s own work on their embodied relating with self and other, now and in the past, before encouraging them to apply this with their clients. The theme of relationality runs through the whole course; listening to our own feelings and responses as a key part of how we work both in the training and with clients, witnessing how we are moved around and impacted by our clients, yet remaining able to witness and reflect on our working relationship. This is a robust and established training, which has appealed to practitioners from many different therapeutic backgrounds. It is primarily experiential; theory arises out of practice
